Blooming Lupine Field Engagement Session

As a photographer, there are few things I love more than capturing the beauty of love in nature. I had the honor of capturing Kaitlyn and Ian’s engagement photos during sunset in the picturesque Driftless countryside. It was a breathtaking experience to witness them surrounded by the stunning beauty of their home and concluding the session in a magnificent lupine field. It was an experience I will never forget.

From the moment I arrived, I knew this was going to be a special session. I was so excited to meet up with you for our photo session! I wanted to arrive early so we could have some time to catch up and walk around before starting. Even though it was our first time meeting in person, it felt like we were already good friends from all our previous chats.

These two are the loveliest hosts! I was even greeted by a personal attendant (AKA – their kitty), and we walked the land they reside on. They showed me their favorite spots, the fields where they envision portraits will take place on their wedding day, and we even walked down to their recreation area where they will soon say their vows, eat tacos and dance in the fields to folk music surrounded by the people they love. To say I am giddy with excitement is the understatement of the century!

During their engagement session, it was evident that they were deeply in love, and their affection for each other was tangible throughout our time together. I couldn’t help but notice how the surroundings seemed to complement their love story flawlessly.

When the sun began to dip below the horizon, we captured some truly magical moments. The warm, golden light gave everything a dreamlike quality, and the couple’s love felt almost otherworldly in this beautiful setting. Kaitlyn and Ian were so incredibly easy to work with, and their love for each other shone through every photo we captured. Each portrait truly was a work of art, with the flowers’ vibrant colors and the sunset’s soft glow creating a dreamy, romantic atmosphere.

By the time we wrapped up our time together, the sun had set, and the lupine field was bathed in a soft, dusky light. As I looked through the photos we had taken, I knew that we had captured something truly special. This was more than just an engagement shoot – it was a celebration of love and nature, a moment frozen in time that this sweet couple will cherish forever.

As a photographer, I feel incredibly lucky to have taken part in such a remarkable engagement session. It reminded me of why I’m so passionate about my job – to capture the pure essence of love and happiness in the midst of nature and to immortalize those moments in treasured memories that will last forever.
